Owned and operated by Steve and Dori Schwartzenberger, Schwartzenberger Equine is located at the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, just north of Denver outside of Longmont, Colorado.

For over 25 years, the Schwartzenbergers have been raising, training and showing top performance horses. Presently they stand at stud proven reining stallions, Spooktacular, Country Bayberry, Smart Poco Twister, Lil Ruf Trouble, and No Guns Please.

Steve and Dori are both Graduates of Colorado State University. Dori holds a PHD in beef cattle nutrition, while Steve is a graduate of Vet School. Working his way through college as a horse trainer, Steve realized after his 1982 graduation that training horses was his true passion.

Before long, Steve had established himself as one of the country's top trainers, wining prestigious events such as the NRHA Limited Open Futurity, the Farnam AQHA Congress Open Reining Futurity, the Rocky Mountain Summer Slide Open Futurity, and the Reno Spectacular Open Futurity.

A multiple NRHA Open Futurity and Derby finalist, Steve now has over $360,000 in lifetime earnings, making him one of NRHA's top 100 trainers. Additionally, many of Steve's non pros have garnered major wins under his tutelage. In 2007, Steve was one of NRHA's Top 20 Professional Riders. He also plays a pivot role in putting on the RMRHA Summer Slide, one of NRHA's top shows each year.

Steve and Dori are involved in various aspects of the reining horse industry as well. Both are licensed NRHA judges, and Dori was the 2007 NRHA Judges Committee Chairman. She gives judging seminars in the U.S., Canada and Europe, and is an accomplished and renowned judge. Dori also enjoys starting two-year-old reining prospects and showing in her spare time.

The Schwartzenbergers have two daughters involved in the reining horse industry, Shevin and Sharee. Both are accomplished riders, with many top wins to their credit.

At the 2002 prestigious NRHA Non Pro Futurity, Shevin was both an Intermediate and Limited Non Pro finalist riding Bueno Time Chex. Shevin graduated from CSU in 2007 with a Bachelor in Biochemistry and a minor in Chemistry. She currently is showing her talented gelding, Lil Ruf Jac.

Younger sister Sharee is also accomplished rider, earning major titles such as the Saddlesmith Youth Series riding HR Powderriverathena. She is currently attending CSU, majoring in Restaurant and Resort Management with a minor in Business. In 2008, she will be showing her horses, Kickin N Screamin and HR Powderriverathena.

Schwartzenberger Equine is located on 11.5 acres, surrounded by alfalfa fields, and just a couple miles off of I-25. The facility is comprised of a 21-stall barn, a newly expanded indoor arena, 20 outdoor pens, a round pen, and a breeding shed and lab. Most of the time, the Schwartzenberger reiners can be found riding outside on their large outdoor track, with the Rocky Mountains rising abruptly in the background to the west.

True reining horse ambassadors, the Schwartzenbergers would be glad to show you around the facility, and explain more about their program. Whether you are an accomplished reiner looking for your next show horse, or you are just starting out; they would be happy to discuss your goals and how they can help.
